We started this project with only an idea and a strong call to get involved and help the world.

We are four young adults who want to change lives. We all have individual passions. But when we combined our passions and talents, we realized we could create something to better the lives of children in need.

Nicole Ryan
President, Co-Founder

Nicole recently graduated from The University of Akron with a B.S. in Dietetics. She is a Registered Dietitian at Pisanick Partners, LLC working as a School Nutrition Dietetic Consultant. She is a part-time group cycle instructor, foodie, workout guru, new kayak owner and wishes she could spend every minute of the day with her four-year-old Labrador mix, Belle. She also loves spending time with family and friends. As a dietetic intern, Nicole was able to experience one of her clinical rotations at Akron Children’s Hospital. While there, she spent most of her time caring for patients on the pediatric Hematology/Oncology floor. Her inspiration for this project stemmed from the strong and exuberant spirits of the kiddos she worked with.

Ellen McNamara
Administrative Financial Director

Ellen is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist working in Corporate Wellness, and a group fitness instructor.  She lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with her husband (Nicole was her Maid of Honor!), and pup, Ranger.  She enjoys all types of outdoor exercise, especially involving the beach and/or walking to restaurants for a local bite to eat!  Ellen got involved with Project Purpose from afar and covers administrative duties, as well as financial management.  She is so inspired by the children fighting cancer, and hopes to help Project Purpose grow, and accelerate their giving to those brave kiddos!  Having gone to college with Nicole at the University of Akron in Ohio, she still feels connected to the community, especially those that are in need of our love and support.

Madeline Brown
Past Board Member, Co-Founder

Madeline graduated from The University of Akron with a B.S. is Dietetics in 2016. She is a Registered Dietitian at Akron Children's Hospital. Her favorite things are playing video games with her husband, her two rescued cats, and cooking/baking. She is excited to dedicate her time and talents to this worthwhile cause.

Amanda Puleo
Co-Director of Design, Co-Founder

Amanda graduated from The University of Akron in 2015 with a BFA in Graphic Design. She is a Product Designer at American Greetings in Cleveland, working on the Target Team. She also has a growing freelance design business. She shares a love for crafting with her mom and they started a business together called All Things Crafty. They sell an array of different items on their Etsy shop. She loves candy, Chipotle and her two-year-old Cockapoo, Sadie. Amanda always felt a strong call to use her talents to help people. And when her friend Nicole (they have known each other since they were in diapers) approached her with this idea, Amanda was totally in and determined to make this the best project she has ever worked on.

Jake Thompson
Co-Director of Design, Co-Founder

Jake graduated from The University of Akron in 2015 with a BFA in Graphic Design. He is a full time Graphic Designer at Recess Creative in Cleveland and a freelance designer. Since discovering his gift for design at a young age, Jake has always been interested in discovering how to use his abilities as a designer to help others. He is also a softy for kids, and couldn't pass up the opportunity to make a difference, and brighten the lives of some kiddos in unfortunate circumstances. When he's not spending time with family and friends, he's usually looking for an excuse to take his motorcycle "Duke" out for a ride. Jake loves screen printing, Noah the family cat, video games with his brothers, and kites. He also recently discovered Sriracha, and is the unofficial creator of "BAM SAUCE" (a delicious combination of mustard and Sriracha).
